Waldoboro’s annual tree lighting at the town office will go on as planned on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m., according to Town Manager Linda-Jean Briggs.
Information circulated on Facebook late this week about the tree lighting being canceled due to issues with the town providing power for the tree lights.
A pole near the tree has the ability to be powered but is not powered 365 days a year, Briggs said. She said power would be available at the pole by close of business Friday, Dec. 5.
“Our public works is working within the constraints of weather and priorities,” Briggs said. “The town office has fully supported this effort and welcomes any volunteer who wants to coordinate a community event.”
Jennifer Vannah, the coordinator of the tree lighting, also confirmed that it would go on as scheduled.
