A woman alleged to have robbed and burglarized a Waldoboro store in February pleaded guilty June 26 to stealing pipe tobacco from a neighboring smoke shop on June 19.
Karrie Prior, 23, of Waldoboro, pleaded guilty to class E misdemeanor charges of theft by unauthorized taking and violating condition of release in Wiscasset District Court.
Prior was caught on camera taking an $8.69 bag of pipe tobacco from the Waldoboro Cigaret Shopper on June 19 without paying for it, and was arrested the following morning, according to court documents.
Prior received concurrent sentences of seven days in jail for the two charges, and will be required to pay $9 in restitution to the business and $40 in fines to the court.
Jonathan Handelman, Prior’s attorney, declined to comment on the outcome of the case.
Prior is due in court again on Monday, Aug. 4 at 8:30 a.m. on a number of felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly robbing and burglarizing Hoffman Collectibles in Waldoboro.
Prior is alleged to have stolen 180 “Johnny Bravo” dietary supplement pills and an undisclosed amount of money close to midnight on Feb. 15.
After police responded to the report of the burglary and an employee entered the store, Prior was alleged to have thrown a candy machine through the front door of the business and, as the employee attempted to stop her, to have dragged the man with her vehicle onto Route 1 before crashing into a snowbank, police and the employee told The Lincoln County News.
Prior was charged with two counts of robbery, one a class A felony and the other a class B felony; two counts of burglary, both class C felonies; criminal mischief, a class D misdemeanor; and theft by unauthorized taking and driving to endanger, both class E misdemeanors.
