A Waldoboro woman was arrested and charged with operating under the influence after she was allegedly involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident on Washington Road the
morning of July 1, according to Waldoboro Police Officer Larry Hesseltine.
Colleen Lopes, 37, was northbound in a red Mercury Mountaineer when she lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason, according to Hesseltine. The SUV crossed
over the southbound lane, entered the ditch, and rolled over, he said.
Lopes was located after the accident walking northbound along Washington Road about a quarter mile away from the scene, but eyewitnesses allegedly saw her exit the
vehicle after the crash, Hesseltine said. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle, he said.
Lopes was uninjured but was “extremely intoxicated,” Hesseltine said.
In addition to the OUI charge, Hesseltine said Lopes is also facing charges of operating a vehicle with expired insurance and no inspection sticker.
