A 24-year-old Waldoboro woman faces a charge of operating under the influence after she fell asleep on the way home from a methadone clinic, crossed the centerline of Route 1 in Warren, and caused a head-on accident Sunday, Jan. 11.
Jillian Richards also faces charges of driving to endanger and failure to have insurance, according to the Bangor Daily News. She told police she does not recall the accident.
Richards was driving a 2005 Pontiac sedan south on Route 1 just south of the intersection of Routes 1 and 90 at about 6:30 a.m., according to the newspaper. John Engwer, 53, of Wrentham, Mass., was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck north.
Richards crossed the centerline and collided with the GMC.

Richards was extricated from the vehicle, the newspaper said. A LifeFlight helicopter transported her to a central Maine hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An ambulance transported Engwer to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for a complaint of pain.
The Warren Ambulance Service, the Warren Fire Department, and the Waldoboro Ambulance Service responded to the accident.
