The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory warning of a progression from snowfall to sleet to freezing rain and finally to rain beginning in the early morning hours and continuing through mid-morning. Unfortunately, the messiest mix is presently forecast to develop just in time for the morning commute, according to the NWS bulletin.
Snowfall is forecast to begin just after midnight and will develop into freezing rain as the daytime temps begin to warm the atmosphere and according to proximity with the ocean. Precipitation is forecast to changeover to all rain by mid morning on Monday, according to the NWS.
The NWS bulletin includes a warning that icing on utility lines and tree limbs may cause power outages.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
