Lincoln County should see a full day of considerable snowfall on Wednesday, starting in the morning and tapering off in the evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). During that period total snowfall accumulation is expected to range in the 14 to 20 inch area, snowfall rates may reach the rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour, and whiteout conditions are a possibility, according to the NWS.
A Winter Storm Warning issued by the NWS is in effect from 4 a.m. Wednesday through 1 a.m. Thursday morning. According to the most recent bulletin from the NWS, Lincoln County residents should start to see sustained snowfall several hours after sunrise on Wednesday morning. However, that forecast (as all forecasts are) is subject to change.
The heaviest snowfall is expected to arrive mid-morning on Wednesday and may reach a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour, according to the NWS, which also warns that blowing and drifting snow will adversely affect visibility, especially near the coast. “Travel conditions on Wednesday will be difficult at best and nearly impossible at some times,” the NWS bulletin warns.
Snowfall should taper off Wednesday night, according to the NWS.
