Good news… The National Weather Service (NWS) has downgraded a Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Weather Advisory in regard to a weather front expected to visit Lincoln County from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Bad news… The storm should still bring a wide range of precipitation types as it passes through, according to forecasts.
While the storm track is forecast to stay variable right up to the last minute, the NWS is calling for the event to begin in the evening hours “as a heavy wet snow with a transition to rain occurring, especially near the coast”.
Sleet and freezing rain are also considered a possibility during the overnight hours, with snowfall returning in the early morning hours as the storm chugs out.
The NWS bulletin estimates that the total accumulation of ice and snow will be between 3 to 6 inches during this event, but warns that amounts will vary greatly depending on the final track of the storm.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday.
The Lincoln County News website will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
