A months-long MDEA investigation into heroin trafficking in Lincoln County has resulted in the arrest of a Westport Island couple. Roger Gingrass, 37, and Alicia Hallstrom, 36, both of Westport Island, were arrested Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
Gingrass was charged with aggravated trafficking in a schedule drug, a class A felony; and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a class C felony. Hallstrom was charged with possession of a scheduled drug, a class C felony.
According to the press release, Gingrass allegedly traveled to Massachusetts on a regular basis to purchase heroin in bulk. Gingrass allegedly repackaged the heroin and sold it from his Ferry Road home.
A shotgun, half a pound of marijuana, and 33 grams of heroin with a street value of $6,600 were seized by MDEA agents during the Oct. 21 search of Gingrass’ home, McCausland said in the press release.
The search was the result of a three-month multi-agency investigation into heroin sales, according to the press release. The Lincoln and Sagadahoc county sheriff’s offices, Bath police, and state police assisted in the investigation.
Gingrass and Hallstrom were arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail. Gingrass is currently being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail with bail set at $25,000, a jail official said. Hallstrom was released on personal recognizance after paying the $60 bail commissioner fee.
