The Westport Island Withdrawal Committee met at the Town Office Aug. 20. The committee discussed the agenda and questions to be asked for the upcoming meeting with the Bath area RSU 1 Superintendent, Patrick Manuel, to take place on Wed., Aug. 22 at 10 a.m.
The committee decided to send the same 40-plus questions they had asked the other three school boards to RSU 12 to get a good comparison of responses for future planning use.
They discussed, and assigned, committee member responsibilities to gather information and summarize the 11 requirements that need to be addressed in the Westport Island withdrawal plan.
They plan to hold a workshop with the RSU 12 ad hoc Withdrawal Committee on Tues., Aug. 28, to discuss the withdrawal plan that is being created for Westport Island residents to consider. Due to a conflict between the time for the workshop and the Withdrawal Committee meeting, the Withdrawal Committee meeting at the Town Office has been cancelled.
The Westport Island Withdrawal Committee still is looking for resident involvement in meetings as well as a potential sub-committee that may be needed to properly advise the residents of the potential new school partnership options that will be available before a town vote is held.
Due to the vacation schedule for some members of the Withdrawal Committee, the members agreed to cancel the scheduled Sept. 12, 6 p.m. meeting at the Town Office.
