Whitefield Elementary School Principal Joshua McNaughton recently announced that he will resign from his position in June 2018, at the end of the current school year. This is his seventh year as principal of the school.
“My wife and I have been considering a potential move for our family for nearly a year now. With the recent birth of our third child, and considering the age of our two other children, we have determined this summer will be the best time for this move,” McNaughton said in an email response to a request for comment on his upcoming departure.
“I have decided to notify the RSU 12 school board now as there is a predicted shortage of principals in the very near future. I wanted to ensure that RSU 12 had adequate time to find a suitable candidate for the position,” he said.
The RSU 12 Board of Directors will take up the matter of McNaughton’s resignation at its 6:30 p.m. meeting on Thursday, Dec. 14 in the cafe of Chelsea Elementary School, 566 Togus Road, Chelsea.
