Mary Grady is grateful. Once the word got out about the Whitefield Food Pantry’s need of a freezer, the response was swift.
Those attending a meeting of the Jefferson-Whitefield Community Action Team were asked what their communities needed. Grady announced that the Whitefield pantry volunteers were tucking frozen food into other people’s freezers because they didn’t have their own appliance.
Grady said this week, “Well, Thursday morning (March 12), bright and early, a woman from North Whitefield called and gave us a beautiful 22 cubit foot freezer.”
The unit will soon be installed in the Whitefield Union Church basement where church members Earl and Mary Lemieux open the doors the first Friday of each month, 1-3 p.m. for people in need. For more information, call 582-2684.
