A two-vehicle crash on an icy Carrabassett Valley road proved fatal to a Whitefield man early Monday morning.
According to published reports, Craig Morin, 25, lost control of the 1997 Geo Prizm he was driving before it skidded and collided with an oncoming pickup truck. The driver of the 1999 Dodge Ram, Martin Tomich, 65, of Hackettstown, N.J., was treated for minor injuries at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Ice and slush on Rt. 27, just south of Sugarloaf Mt., and traveling too fast for conditions were given as causes of the accident.
The victim’s parents are Peter Morin of Whitefield and Karen Hutchinson, whom the younger Morin was visiting in Stratton.
