A photo of buoys on the footbridge in Boothbay Harbor received 46% of readers’ votes to win the July #LCNme365 photo contest.
Dmitry Pepper, of Whitefield, snapped the photo with his Nikon D5500 while walking around Boothbay Harbor with his brother.
“We were walking around having fun and I saw the buoys hanging there,” Pepper said. “It looked like an interesting shot so I took the photo.”
Pepper is majoring in photography at Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. and will start his senior year this fall. He learned about the #LCNme365 photo contest from Instagram and from his parents, who would see the monthly winner on the front page of the paper each month.
“I thought it would be a good time to submit one of my photographs,” Pepper said. “I’m a little surprised (it won), but it feels good. It’s been a while since I won a photo contest, so I’m excited.”
In addition to having his photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Pepper will receive a $50 gift certificate to Riverside Butcher Co., the sponsor of the July contest.
As the seventh monthly winner, Pepper cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2019, but he can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Pepper’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2019.
Submissions are now being accepted for the August #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate from the monthly sponsor, Newcastle Publick House. For full rules and means of entry, go to lcnme.com/photo-contest.
