Power outages are reported in 14 Lincoln County towns as the heaviest snow bands of a fast moving storm chug through Lincoln County. There are also reports of minor traffic accidents and vehicles off the road.
Peninsula areas, especially the town of Bristol, are hardest hit by the outages, according Central Maine Power (CMP).
The storm is still forecast to move out in the afternoon or evening hours, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), which has a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 p.m.
The NWS is calling for snowfall accumulations between 6-12 inches. Local broadcast forecasters are calling for considerably less accumulation, with a coating to 3 inches along the immediate coast and 3-7 inches in most areas of Lincoln County.
Lincoln County also falls into an area where the rain/snow line of the storm is still highly variable in combined forecasts, so the actual weather conditions could still change significantly.
The Lincoln County News Online will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is available.
