With predictions of over a foot of snow arriving on Wednesday, Lincoln County EMA wants to remind the citizens of Lincoln County the importance of winter preparedness, prevention, and assisting our friends and neighbors during extended periods of snow.Familiar tips to remember during storms of any kind:
Food and water for all in your household for up to 72 hours (Do not forget pets and infants).
Should the power go out, avoid carbon monoxide poisoning by running generators in well ventilated areas to manufacturer instructions. All outside cooking devices (i.e. grills) should be used outside in a well ventilated area as well.
Stay off the roads at height of the storm, limit travel for emergency purposes only so that clean up measures can be completed timely.
Avoid fires in the home by ensuring that all space heaters and wood stoves are away from combustible items such as clothing, newspapers, and furnishings.
Keep vents and roofs clear from the snow, snow can cause major damage and injuries as it piles up, be vigilant in your inspection of heating vents and roofs.
