A 19-year-old man has died following a May 14 traffic accident on Lowell Town Road in Wiscasset.
Jesse A. Shaw, who lived on Federal Street in Wiscasset, is identified as the passenger in a 1998 GMC pick up truck operated Dennis J. Jones, 21, Gibbs Rd., that was involved in a single vehicle accident around 1:35 a.m.
According to a preliminary report filed by Wiscasset police officer Kathy S. Williams, the accident occurred when the northbound pickup truck went over the shoulder of the road, came across into the southbound lane, became airborne and ultimately came to rest on its roof.
According to Williams’ report, Jones was trapped inside the vehicle when it came to rest.
At some point, possibly when the vehicle was airborne, it is believed the passenger became ejected, according to police.
Shaw is identified in the report as suffering broken bones and bleeding.
He was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, with severe head injuries and died on May 20, a state police spokesman said.
At press time there is no word as to the potential cause of the accident, injuries to Jones if any, or of any charges pending.
