Santa Claus came to Wiscasset Community Center Dec. 13, to have breakfast with some of his young friends and their parents.
“Breakfast With Santa” has become a local tradition over the past 12 years after members of the Wiscasset Senior Center began preparing an annual breakfast for their young guests and their parents.
The senior center was nearly filled to capacity for the two hours that Santa was there. Children lined up to sit on Santa’s knee to give him their Christmas list, and Jolly Old St Nick, would ask if they had been good boys and girls all year long. In most cases the children said yes, and other children avoided answering the question.
Watching the excitement in the eyes of the young children telling Santa Claus what they wanted for Christmas appeared to be just as exciting for the parents, while most of the parents stood with their cameras capturing every moment of this special time in their child’s life.
Some children visited Santa Claus before breakfast, and other parents had their children eat their breakfast before visiting Santa; either way the children were all very well behaved, and all ate their breakfast with no problem.
The breakfast consisted of orange juice, milk, coffee, scrambled eyes, bacon, sausage patties, pancakes, home fries, English muffins and a candy cane from Santa.
A bake sale with homemade cookies and other goodies were on sale at the community center during the breakfast, all made by members of the senior center.
