Route 1 is open to traffic again after a two-vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital and halted traffic for about 45 minutes just before 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10.
According to Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline, Larry Burridge, 67, of Connecticut, was driving a green Subaru Forester south on Route 1.
David Woodruff, 63, of Pennsylvania, was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 1 from the parking lot of The Sea Basket Restaurant in a late-model Toyota SUV.
Woodruff failed to yield the right-of-way to Burridge and the Woodruff vehicle struck the Burridge vehicle.
Burridge’s female passenger was reported to have a head laceration and was transported the hospital by the Wiscasset Ambulance Service.
Woodruff’s passenger, also female, was taken to the hospital with a possible rib injury, Cline said.
Cline said neither injury appears to be life-threatening. No charges are pending.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Wiscasset Fire Department assisted at the scene.
