A Wiscasset man was arrested Thursday, March 19 and charged with barging into a Woolwich home on St. Patrick’s Day and threatening the resident with a handgun.
Daniel P. Colby Jr., 32, whose last known address was in Wiscasset, remained at Two Bridges Regional Jail on Friday, March 20, charged with class A burglary and class C criminal threatening and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to Chief Deputy Brett Strout, of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.
The resident of a Mountain Road home reported that when he answered a knock at the door just after 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, Colby “barged in” and threatened his life with a handgun, Strout said Friday. Colby then allegedly ran from the home.
Wiscasset police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office joined Sagadahoc County deputies searching for the man March 17 before “the trail went cold,” Strout said. But on Thursday evening, Augusta police arrested Colby in that city.
Police have not yet recovered the gun.
The resident, who is known to Colby, was not injured. The incident apparently stemmed from a dispute among friends and family members, Strout said. The case remains under investigation.
Strout said the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency also participated in the investigation, but would not disclose why they were involved.
