Jonathan W. Doray, 33, of Wiscasset, faces a misdemeanor charge of shooting domestic animals in connection with a Christmas Eve incident in Sheepscot.
The Maine Warden Service has summonsed Doray, spokesman Cpl. John MacDonald said.
Sheepscot residents responded with shock and indignation to the fatal shooting of three domestic geese and wounding of a fourth Dec. 24, 2011. (see “Killing of geese upsets Sheepscot residents” LCN, 1/5/12, Page 1).
The birds belong to a flock Sheepscot residents have fed and otherwise cared for, for 30 years.
Belva Ann Prcyl lives across the Sheepscot River in Alna. The geese are “beloved,” she told The Lincoln County News earlier this month. “We view them as residents of the village.”
