A Wiscasset man who allegedly led Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline on a high-speed chase Dec. 13, 2014 was arrested again Jan. 20, a week after his release on bail.
The Wiscasset Police Department arrested Glenn Lewis, 58, Jan. 20 and charged him with violation of condition of release because he allegedly failed to complete mandatory check-ins required by his bail conditions, Cline said.
A warrant was obtained for Lewis’ arrest on charges of eluding a police officer, criminal speeding, and improper attachment of plates stemming from a Dec. 13 incident. Cline attempted to pull Lewis over for an unsafe pass and operating a vehicle with no front license plate or inspection sticker, but Lewis led Cline on a high-speed chase.
Lewis evaded arrest until Jan. 13, when he was located at a residence in Jefferson and taken into custody by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
According to Cline, Lewis posted bail and was released from Two Bridges Regional Jail later that day. Lewis’ bail conditions require him to complete three mandatory check-ins a week at the Wiscasset Police Department.
Lewis arrived at the department to check in for the first time since his release on Tuesday, Jan. 20, Cline said, and he was arrested.
Lewis was released from Two Bridges Regional Jail Friday, Jan. 23 with the same bail conditions, Cline said.
“If he hasn’t checked in, I will go after him and arrest him again,” Cline said.
