A high-speed chase in Wiscasset that resulted in a month-long hunt for the man involved and additional charges when the man threatened the Wiscasset police chief while on bail came to an end in Lincoln County Superior Court Monday, July 20.
Glenn Lewis, 59, of Wiscasset, pleaded guilty to charges of eluding a police officer, a class C felony, criminal speeding, a class E misdemeanor, attaching false plates, a class E misdemeanor, and terrorizing, a class D misdemeanor.
Lewis was sentenced to two years in custody with all but six months suspended and two years of probation for eluding a police officer. He was also given concurrent sentences of 30 days for terrorizing, 30 days for improper attachment of plates, and 90 days for criminal speeding.
Additional charges of attaching false plates and violating conditions of release were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
Lewis made headlines in December 2014 when he failed to pull over for Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline and instead led Cline on a high-speed chase with speeds at times exceeding 100 mph.
Cline ceased pursuit of Lewis due to road conditions on Bog Road and because he had identified the driver. Lewis remained at large for approximately a month until his arrest in January.
Lewis was rearrested in January for violating bail conditions, which required Lewis to complete three mandatory check-ins at the Wiscasset Police Department a week.
Lewis was again arrested in February and charged with terrorizing for making lewd and threatening comments about Cline to a court clerk.
Lewis was granted a stay on his sentence until Sept. 15. According to Lewis’ defense attorney, David Paris, he has done well with his bail conditions for the last couple of months.
Lewis must undergo mental health evaluation and treatment and complete a defensive-driving course as part of his probation conditions.
