A Wiscasset man who allegedly ran from police while they were attempting to issue a harassment order last week will now face additional charges, once he is apprehended.
On Wednesday, Aug. 20, Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline and Sgt. Kathy Williams attempted to serve Daniel Colby Jr., 32, of Wiscasset, a notice of harassment after Colby’s grandmother filed a complaint with the Wiscasset Police Department.
When police arrived at Colby’s residence on Rumerill Road, Colby allegedly had fled on foot, which launched a search involving the Wiscasset Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and a K-9 unit.
As of Aug. 26, Cline said Colby remains at large, but he is wanted on charges of domestic violence stalking, refusal to submit to arrest, and cultivating marijuana.
The marijuana cultivation charge is a result of additional information provided to the police department, Cline said.
“Detective Sgt. Ron Rollins and I were following up on information received regarding a possible illegal grow of marijuana located in the area that Dan Colby Jr. frequents. We subsequently located approximately 25 marijuana plants in various stages of growth,” Cline wrote in an email Aug. 26.
According to Cline, Colby once possessed a Medical Marijuana Certificate, but it has expired and therefore will be charged with cultivating marijuana.
Chief Cline also reports the following additional arrests and summonses:
Stephen M. Yonker, 35, Bristol, expired inspection sticker, Aug. 18.
Joseph Brann, 20, Waldoboro, expired inspection sticker, Aug. 19.
Kevin J. Weeks, 27, Jefferson, passenger possessing open container on public way, Aug. 19.
