On Nov. 21 Officer Temple arrested Paul W. Biester, 21, of Winslow on warrants for failure to appear on charges of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.
On Nov. 26 Officer Don Smith issued a summons to Jesse A. James, 20, of Wiscasset for failure to register a motor vehicle within 30 – 150 days.
On Nov. 24 Officer Simmons investigated an accident that occurred on Rt. 1 involving John C. Lang, 58, of Bath. Lang was northbound when he struck a plastic culvert that had blown into the roadway causing damage estimated at $1500 to his 2001 Toyota.
On Nov. 24 Officer Williams investigated an accident that occurred at business on Rt. 27 involving Thomas E. Peaslee, 19, of East Boothbay and Steven Christiansen, 54, of Wiscasset. Peaslee was stopped waiting to pull out onto the Gardiner Road. Christiansen was parked at the gas pumps while he was inside the store. His vehicle came out of gear and rolled into Peaslee’s 1999 Buick, causing damage estimated at $1200. There was no damage to Christiansen’s 1999 Ford.
On Nov. 26 Officer Don Smith investigated an accident that occurred on Lowelltown Road involving Stephen R. Spaulding, 40, of Woolwich. Spaulding was northbound when a vehicle approached that was partway in his lane. He avoided the vehicle but started in an uncontrolled skid, going off the roadway. He struck a utility pole and a sign. Damage to his 2000 Ford pickup (registered owner Kendra Steel) estimated at $8000.
On Nov. 27 Officer Temple investigated a four car accident on Rt. 1 involving Loretta M. Rogers, 70, of South Portland, Sherman N. Hoyt, 68, of Spruce Head, Lewis C. Grant, 76, of Rockland, and John V. Rosanen, 59, of West Boothbay Harbor. Rogers was traveling northbound and Hoyt was traveling southbound when Rogers lost control on the slippery bridge and crossed into the path of Hoyt. Hoyt collided with Rogers. Grant was traveling behind Hoyt and was unable to come to a stop in time to avoid another collision. Rosanen was behind Grant and trying to avoid striking Grant, turned into the guardrail, making impact, causing him to spin around and collide with the guardrail again with the rear of his vehicle. Occupants of Rogers and Hoyt were taken to Miles Memorial Hospital. Damage to Rogers’ 2004 Toyota pickup estimated at $20,000. Damage to Hoyt’s 2001 Saab estimated at $12,000. Damage to Rosanen’s 2005 Ford SUV estimated at $5000. There was no damage to Grant’s 1991 Oldsmobile.
On Nov. 28 Lt. Allen investigated an accident that occurred on the West Alna Road involving Ronald J. Finlay, 19, of Wiscasset and Dale Hamlin, 54, of Wiscasset. Finlay was traveling south and driving into the sun he became disoriented, losing control of his vehicle. He left the roadway and into a yard striking Hamlin’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway and continued into a CMP, pole guide wire. Damage to Finlay’s 1994 Jaguar estimated at $5000. Damage to Hamlin’s 2005 Subaru estimated at $5000.
On Nov. 29 Lt. Allen investigated an accident that occurred on Rt. 1 involving Scott J. Mack, 27, of Bath and Darryl A. Larson, 70, of Edgecomb. Larson slowed in traffic because of an accident ahead of him. Mack, not seeing that Larson was slowing, hit the back of Larson’s 2007 Toyota causing damage estimated at $2500. Damage to Mack’s 2005 Dodge Van (registered owner Elmhurst Inc.) estimated at $2000.
