Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline reminds motorists to be cautious and aware while driving, especially with the increased tourist traffic in the summer months. Rear-end accidents such as the six which occurred in Wiscasset this week are potentially avoidable if drivers pay more attention, according to Cline.
Cline reports the following activities:
June 26, Shannon Fraser, 30, of Augusta, was summoned for a stop sign violation on Gardiner Road.
June 26, Ralph White, 64, of Falmouth, was summoned for failure to obey lane controls.
June 27, Sean Oliver, 25, of Newcastle, was summoned for no inspection sticker.
June 27, Ray Rines, 46, of Wiscasset, was summoned for possession of a suspended license.
June 27, Elaine Wyman, 65, of Wiscasset, was arrested on two counts of violating conditions of release and one count of failure to provide correct name and address.
June 28, Gregory Larochelle, 51, of Readfield, was summoned for a stop sign violation on Gardiner Road at Bath Road.
June 28, Lance Cohen, 48, of North Easton, Mass., was summoned for speeding on Bath Road, 44 in a 25.
June 30, Benjamin Smith, 19, of Edgecomb, was summoned for speeding on Fowle Hill Road, 60 in a 35.
July 1, Heather Savage, 42, of Boothbay Harbor, was summoned for speeding on Bath Road, 52 in a 35.
June 27, Jeremi Green, 41, of Waldoboro, was operating a 2006 Ford van westbound on Main Street when he slowed for traffic near the intersection with Federal Street. Josiah Hayward, 19, of Alna, operating a 2006 Ford Focus, failed to see Green slow and struck his vehicle from behind. One passenger in the van complained of head pain, but was not transported.
June 27, Pam Frenier, 61, of Westport Island, was operating a vehicle on Gardiner Road when she slowed to make a left turn. Lydia Williams, 18, of Gardiner, operating a 2001 Subaru, struck Frenier’s vehicle from behind. Frenier complained of back pain; both Frenier and Williams were transported for injuries.
June 28, Heather Audette, 57, of Brunswick, was operating a vehicle westbound on Main Street when she stopped for traffic in the area of Middle Street. Lucille Lothrop, 58, of Newcastle, operating a 2005 Subaru, stopped behind Audette. Darius Bedard, 50, of Washington, operating a 2004 Dodge, failed to see the stopped vehicles and struck Lothrop’s vehicle from behind, pushing it into Audette’s vehicle. Lothrop complained of neck pain; none were transported for injuries.
June 28, Marcelline McCormick, 85, of Dresden, was northbound on Bath Road when she slowed for traffic near Napa. Erik Howard, 21, of Wiscasset, struck McCormick’s vehicle from behind. Howard had a split lip, but was not transported.
June 29, Christopher Jones, 50, of Wiscasset, was stopped and signaling for a left turn when his vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by Katherine Kibler, 18, of Atlanta, Ga. Jones complained of back pain but was not transported.
