Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline announces the following arrests, summonses and accidents:
On May 29 Tom X. Bustos, 54, of Gardiner, was issued a summons for operating out of season with studded tires.
On May 31 Dennis Mosier, 51, of Woolwich, was issued a summons for an expired inspection sticker.
On May 31 Benjamin R. Smith, 20, of Wiscasset, was issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident.
Libby, operating a 2012 black Honda SUV was traveling south on Bath Road. Deane, operating a 1995 BMW passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on Bath Road and was stopped to make a left turn into a yard sale. Smith, driving a 2003 Jeep, was also travelling northbound and didn’t realize Deane had stopped in traffic and hit Deane’s vehicle in the rear, pushing it across the center line into the path of Libby. According to the accident report, Smith allegedly left the scene of the accident and was later issued a summons.
On June 1 an accident occurred on Old Bath Road involving Brandon Ward, 31, of Wiscasset and Sawyer Steele, 32 of Oakland, Cal.
Steele, operating a 2014 Chevrolet passenger car, was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Route 1 and Old Bath Road. Ward, operating a 2005 Toyota passenger car, was behind Steele at the intersection. According to the police report, Ward erroneously thought Sawyer was entering Route 1 and struck Sawyer’s vehicle from behind.
