Auctioneer Stef Keenan, of Keenan Auction Company, sounds upbeat when discussing the upcoming foreclosure auction of Wiscasset Raceway on Thurs., July 12.
“I’m getting a lot of interest from in and out of state as it relates to the raceway,” he said. He also noted there’s a “Maine interest” in the property as well.
The Savings Bank of Maine has foreclosed on Wiscasset Raceway, LLC, “of which Doug White is the principle, I believe,” Keenan said.
Keenan’s company is currently developing a property package with more detail about the property than is currently on the website (www.keenanauction.com) to entice and stimulate interest in the popular property.
He’s also looking forward to the upcoming preview at the raceway on Fri., June 29 from 10-11:30 a.m. where “prospective buyers can come and get a closer look as we approach auction day,” Keenan said.
After the preview Keenan believes he’ll have a clearer understanding of who’ll possibly be bidding at the auction scheduled for July 12 at 1 p.m. at the 274 West Alna Rd., Wiscasset Raceway property.
“It’s [the raceway] recognized as an institution as ‘the fastest track.’ There’s a huge following and it’ll be interesting to see what comes out of that,” Keenan said. “I’m hoping for good interest.”
The raceway consists of more than 35 acres, that includes the racing facility, a grandstand with 6000-plus seating capacity and a three-bedroom, one bath rental home.
Included in the property, according to Keenan’s website, is an announcer’s and scorer’s booth, VIP box, arcade, concession area, offices, storage, food and ticket booths, tech garage, pit area with all personal property also sold with the real estate.
Gearing up for the auction, Keenan’s next step is continuing to advertise nationwide. “This week we’re going on some NASCAR websites,” he said.
