A Wiscasset man was summonsed for driving to endanger following a single-vehicle rollover on Foye Road in Wiscasset the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 29. Caleb P. Libby, 24, of Wiscasset, was issued the summons after voluntarily submitting to an intoxication test at Two Bridges Regional Jail, which came back negative, Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline said.
The rollover was reported at approximately 12:52 p.m. by a witness. Libby was not at the scene when Wiscasset Reserve Officer James Read arrived, according to Cline. He was located walking back to the scene of the accident from his house, located a short distance away.
He reportedly walked home to get his cellphone to report the accident, Cline said. According to Cline, Libby was driving toward Route 27 on Foye Road. Libby told police he was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer too fast for the curve in the vicinity of 176 Foye Rd., slid into the other lane of traffic, hit soft dirt, and flipped the vehicle, Cline said.
Libby was uninjured. He was transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail by Read for an intoxication test, but tested negative for intoxicants. He was issued a summons for driving to endanger.
The Wiscasset Ambulance Service and Wiscasset Fire Department also responded to the scene, which was cleared at approximately 1:35 p.m.
