Operating a stand-alone school district could cost Wiscasset $1.4 million more than staying in Sheepscot Valley RSU 12, according to estimates prepared by educational consultants Raymond Poulin and Norm Higgins.
“Given the information that we have, that’s the closest we can come at this particular point in time,” Poulin said at the meeting of the Wiscasset Withdrawal Committee on Jan. 10.
Wiscasset residents tasked the committee with negotiating an agreement to withdraw from RSU 12 after a June vote last year.
