Selectmen approved three special amusement permits for Doug White, owner of the Wiscasset Raceway, LLC, for a circus, music festival, and a bike fest at their Nov. 2 meeting.
One point of contention concerning the permitting process arose over when a payment was due to the town.
White indicated that such a large payment, in this case $17,000, was not immediately feasible for a concert scheduled in the summer. Selectman Dunning said the permitting process was “evolving” and could understand the frustration on White’s part.
Town Manager Smith suggested the town was flexible on the payment schedule as long as it was received in advance of an event.
