Jamel Martin Torres is joining the town of Wiscasset team to fill its open position as Wiscasset’s town planner. His first day will be Monday, Dec. 8.
Torres grew up in the small town of Denmark. He attended the University of Vermont, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies. He also holds a master’s degree in community planning and development from the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service in Portland.
Torres currently works for Healthy Androscoggin, a Healthy Maine Partnership in Lewiston, where he coordinates physical activity initiatives. He assists schools and municipalities in creating policy and environmental changes for active living.
