A Wiscasset woman has been cited for operating a vehicle in a reckless, careless, or negligent manner after crashing into the Clipper Mart sign in Wiscasset at approximately 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21.
Mackenzie Riley, 27, of Wiscasset, was driving a 2011 Ford SUV on Bradford Road when she drove through the intersection with Bath Road and into a snowbank on the opposite side of the street, according to a Wiscasset Police Department press release.
Her car came to a rest against the base of the gas station’s sign.
Riley allegedly told Wiscasset Police Department reserve Officer Harry Wiegman she was distracted when she went through the intersection of Bradford and Bath roads, according to the press release.
Wiegman found Riley at fault and cited her for failure to stop at a stop sign, distracted driving, and operating a vehicle in a reckless, careless, or negligent manner, according to the press release.
No one was injured in the accident.
