An English setter named Kentucky is the subject of the winning photo for the June #LCNme365 photo contest.
Kate Bryant, of Wiscasset, snapped the photo of her dog in her front yard with her iPhone earlier this month. Bryant said Kentucky, who also goes by “Tuck,” hopped up to sit on the picnic table just as storm clouds were blowing in.
“He likes to sit on the picnic table when we groom him, and when he got up there that night I just noticed how amazing the sky was,” Bryant said. “I just had to take a photo.”
Bryant submitted the photo to the #LCNme365 photo contest, which she had learned about by reading The Lincoln County News. She learned that she had won a weekly photo contest after the photo was posted on the newspaper’s Instagram account.
“I was thrilled to win the weekly contest,” Bryant said. “It was just exciting to think that someone else really liked my photo.”
Bryant was excited to learn voters selected her as the winner of the monthly contest, especially against steep competition.
“All of the photos were really beautiful, so this is really exciting,” Bryant said.
In addition to having her photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Bryant will receive a $50 gift certificate from June’s contest sponsor, Coastal Car Wash, of Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta.
As the sixth monthly winner, Bryant cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2017, but she can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries on lcnme.com.
Bryant’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2017.
Submissions are now being accepted for the July #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate from the monthly sponsor, Riverside Butcher Co., of Damariscotta.
