Despite the economic downturn in recent years, Vern Brewer and Jack Harworth, co-owners of NAPA Auto Parts in Wiscasset, are expanding their operations. The partners
will be moving from their current location in Wiscasset at 179 Bath Rd. to a larger retail space right down the street in mid November.
Brewer and Jack Harworth, who have over 65 years experience, combined, in the automotive industry, say there is no secret to their success. “Hard work,”
Brewer said, “It’s get up and do it every day. We also preach customer service, because if you don’t have good customer service you have nothing.”
Harworth and Brewer opened their first auto parts store in West Bath in 2006. After six years of successful operation there, the duo opened a second
location in Wiscasset. A short time later, plans were put in place to expand the Wiscasset store to a larger, more customer friendly space.
The new home of NAPA Auto Parts, at 715 Bath Rd, was originally set to open on Oct. 1. However, plans were delayed because, Brewer said, they did not want
to rush the process.
NAPA Auto Parts new location is owned by Priority Real Estate Group, which will lease the store out to Brewer and Harworth. Brewer credits Priority Real
Estate Group for making the move, “absolutely painless.”
The keys to the new location will be handed to Brewer and Harworth on Nov. 1 and the first three weeks will consist of setting up the store’s interior and
slowly moving over inventory. The new location will feature a brand new showroom and more in-depth inventory including a huge welding section and ATV parts.
NAPA Auto Parts in Wiscasset and Bath Auto Parts in West Bath already support 18 full-time staff and are open seven days a week. The new Wiscasset location
will increase their store hours and, Brewer predicts, require additional staff.
The 179 Bath Rd. location will remain in operation until the 715 Bath Rd. store officially opens its doors for business.
