For the past several years, the Wiscasset Congregational Church’s Summerfest has been held on the fourth Saturday of July. The event has been a popular attraction to people from
miles around, and this year’s event was no exception.
The common in front of the Lincoln County Courthouse and the church was filled with activities for people of all ages and dogs of every breed this past Saturday.
Not only does the event offer an opportunity for people to shop at the craft and treasure tables, bid on silent auction items, enjoy food and entertainment from the
All Brass Jazz Band, and take part in activities for children and a parade for dogs, the proceeds from the event are donated to local charities. Recipients are determined at a
special service in October.
According to Chairman Nancy Roby, Summerfest raised about $6,000 this year that will be donated to local charities. “We were blessed with a beautiful day, which
contributed much to the success of the event,” Roby said.
The First Congregational Church’s Summerfest began as an all-church affair in 1983, which followed years of the annual event held by the Ladies Organ Society.
