A Jefferson man was killed June 24 when a large pine tree he was taking down fell back onto the excavator he was using for the task.
Peter Peaselee, 48, was fatally injured when the tree crushed the excavator’s cab where he was seated around 8:29 p.m. Peaselee succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Peaselee, a self employed contractor, had been clearing a lot near the intersection of Rt. 17 and Travelers Pond Road. He was working alone at the time of the accident. According to LCSO Lt. Michael J. Murphy, Peaslee was apparently using the excavator to knock down trees before removing them.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
