Serving Maine and Lincoln County for over 140 years
Local Maine author Deb Gould journeyed to our own back yard in the early 1800s with her tale of the local settlers in the historical fiction work The Eastern: Book One: The Early Years. This fall she returns to share their further adventures with us, picking up the story in 1866 with Book Two: Later On. After the Civil War, the Eastern River families of Pittston prosper
during Maine’s Golden Age of Agriculture. As they move into the 20th Century, however, social and industrial changes present challenges to the close-knit agrarian neighborhood.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about how Deb’s discovery of Charles Call’s diary sparked a story that will resonate both with modern descendants and anyone who enjoys a good story based on local history and strong community ties! FMI call 737-8810
