Join the Appalachian Mountain Club of Maine celebrating National Trails Month with a trail cleanup on Saturday, June 29, at Midcoast Conservancy’s West Branch Preserve in Somerville.
Volunteers will replace old bog bridging, refresh old blazes, trim back the trail, and clear down branches to make the trail a more enjoyable experience for hikers.
West Branch Preserve protects almost 1.5 miles of the West Branch of Davis Stream, one of the major tributaries to Damariscotta Lake. With over a half dozen miles of trails that go through woods as well as along cascading falls of the stream, the preserve is a great retreat at any time of year.
No experience is necessary. Newcomers are encouraged and tools will be provided.
The details of starting time and address will be provided upon registration on the Appalachian Mountain Club’s website, bit.ly/3Rp80em.
