Local author Kirsten Lie-Nielsen will speak at the Bremen Public Library on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m.
Lie-Nielsen, the author of “So You Want to be a Modern Homesteader?,” will talk about her experiences and share what she has learned about being a modern homesteader. She will offer tips for surviving Maine winters with wood heat and caring for farm animals. Her book focuses on the joys and pitfalls of homesteading life.
Lie-Nielsen and her partner purchased an 1860s farmhouse in Liberty, where they could pursue their homesteading dreams. They were prepared to rough it, to go without modern conveniences, and the journey has not been without hardships. Writing the book was a fun project for her and definitely a labor of love.
After the talk, books will be available for purchase and signing.
