Members of the public are encouraged to come to the Hahn Community Center, at 25 Main St. in Friendship, on Friday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. for a benefit spaghetti dinner to raise money toward the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible van for Savannah Robinson, of Friendship. Robinson is a volunteer at Mobius Inc. in Damariscotta.
Robinson is a fun-loving, carefree young woman who is very involved with her community. She has a progressive disease that causes her to rely on the use of a wheelchair. Transporting is not only difficult for whomever is working with Robinson, but for Robinson herself. She has a diagnosis of osteoporosis and has fallen a number of times from trying to stand and climb into vehicles, which eventually will lead to broken bones.
The dinner is $8 per person or $20 per family. There will be music for entertainment.
