Inn Along the Way in Damariscotta invites the public to its first composting symposium to be held at the Chapman Farm on Saturday, April 20 from 9-11:30 a.m. at 741 Main St. in Damariscotta. Gardening expert James Roby will lead this interactive workshop where one will participate in the building of composting bins while learning the importance of this practice and why it works so effectively.
Join in as Roby as demystifies the composting process. He will address the key components of containment, turning, and rotation of the compost, and explain the importance of cover material. The advantages and use of the final compost will also be discussed.
All ages are welcome, so bring the family, questions, and concerns, and join the fun. This event will be held rain or shine. For more information or to get directions, contact Sherry Flint at 751-6261 or email info@innalongtheway.org.
Inn Along the Way is a unique and innovative community design in which older adults live interdependently in a neighborhood-style setting of small, accessible, environmentally friendly homes. Rents are based on ability to pay. The interdependent community fosters strength, safety, and feelings of purpose, connection, and vibrancy. In addition, a small inn, a cafe, a meeting space, an art center, and a farm stand eventually will help draw the wider community to the door, as well as help fund the hospitality cottages.
