A design showhouse will be the highlight of a Glimpse of Glidden Street, this year’s outreach fundraising event for St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, located at 11 Glidden St. in Newcastle. Scheduled for Wednesday-Sunday, Sept. 28-Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the festivities will include tours of the Arts and Crafts-period architectural gem of the church itself, visits to select buildings and grounds on historic Glidden Street, a silent auction, concerts in the church, and a preview party.
The grand Parish House, diagonally across from the church, is currently getting readied for showcasing 14 area designers in 10 rooms. Among the businesses presenting booths will be Sproul’s Furniture, Salt Bay Trading Company, and The Paint Room at Nobleboro Antique Exchange, as well as Moulinette and Birch, both shops in Wiscasset. One of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church’s biggest outreach beneficiaries is its Haiti Fund, which will also have a booth decorated with Haitian paintings and crafts. Other outreach partners are the Lincoln County Energy Fund, Ecumenical Food Pantry, CHIP, and Habitat for Humanity. All proceeds from tickets to the showcase and preview party will go toward these organizations.
The preview party with wine and beer will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26. Tickets for this event, which will be limited, will be $25 per person or $40 a couple. For the design showhouse and tours from Sept. 28-Oct. 2, tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. All tickets will be available at the following locations: Skidompha Public Library in Damariscotta; St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday-Thursday; and at Birch, 72 Main St., Wiscasset.
