The Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce will host its first fall shred event at Lincoln County Publishing Co. in Newcastle on Saturday, Oct. 13. The event is open to all, members and nonmembers alike.
A 10,000-pound capacity shred truck will be at the publishing company from 9 a.m. to noon. Visitors will have the choice of paying $10 per box or bag of documents to shred, or donating a new and unopened school supply item per box or bag shredded. A portion of the funds raised from the event will be used to purchase supplies for local elementary and middle schools.
To ensure everyone has a chance to shred his or her documents, each person is limited to five boxes or bags.
Louis Doe Home Center, of Newcastle, is sponsoring the event, and additional sponsors are being sought. In exchange for sponsorship, businesses and organizations can have a display at the shred event and will be promoted by the Chamber leading up to the event.
For more information or to sponsor the event, call the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce office at 563-8340.
