The Congregational Church of Bristol will hold its annual Family Fun Fair on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1261 Bristol Road in Bristol Mills (Bristol). It will feature a huge yard sale. There will be more bargains than one can imagine offered under the big tent — furniture, children’s items, dishes, glassware, lawn chairs, lamps, and so much more.
High-end items will be found in an area called Granny’s Attic. There, one will find an assortment of linens, china, glassware, furniture and jewelry. A wide range of local artisans and craftspeople will be showing their wares. They will be on hand to talk with customers about the handmade items offered. Garden and house plants will be for sale to brighten the home. Books of all types will be sold at bargain prices.
One can visit with a local artist, Alexandra Weiss, in the church library. She and several other area artists will exhibit their paintings and carvings at the art show. And no fair is complete without baked goods. All are made by the talented bakers of the church.
There will be great food on hand all day, including an array of sandwiches, hot dogs, and lobster rolls. Live music will be provided by Jan Bacon and the Rusty Hinges. The bounce house will be free for the children, as will popcorn.
A major event going on during the fair will be the silent auction. Items and a wide selection of gift certificates from local businesses will be up for bid. The “big daddy” of all the items will be a South African photo safari for two people and a Walt Disney World trip for eight, which includes a Disney gift certificate for $2,000. For more information on these trips, go to ccobucc.org.
Admission and parking to the Family Fun Fair are free. Call Sandy Averill with any questions at 677-2165. The event will be held rain or shine.
