Racha Noodle Bar by Best Thai has announced the six noodle choices available to customers during the Know Your Noodles sampler party scheduled for Sunday, March 31 beginning at 3 p.m.
The special event will be a fundraiser for the Skidompha Library Digitization Project of The Lincoln County News archives, with money being raised from a portion of the event proceeds and a raffle for a $50 gift certificate at Racha Noodle Bar.
Guests at the event will be free to enjoy all six of the noodle choices, with each made to order and delivered tableside. The selections include a wide variety of entree samples, allowing diners to enjoy the many flavors and textures of Asian noodles along with accompanying ingredients.
“We have tried to select the ‘all stars’ of our menu, offering both experienced and first-time Asian noodle diners a great exploration opportunity,” said Racha Noodle Bar co-owner Pongsakorn “Job” Hanjitsuwan.
The six choices are:
Dry Ramen, made with chicken, Japanese-style egg noodle, garlic oil, pork belly, soy egg, ginger, scallion, onion, bean sprout, and string beans, and flavored with house-made sweet soy sauce.
Sesame Noodle, with vegetable noodles and assorted fresh vegetables stir-fried with sesame brown sauce.
Spaghetti Curry, made with stir-fried spaghetti noodle, basil leaves, panko deep-fried chicken, and assorted vegetables in a green curry sauce.
Bamee, a dish presented in a clear chicken broth, with Thai egg noodle, bean sprout, string beans, baby bok choy, and scallion.
Khao Soi, a somewhat spicy curry from Northern Thailand combining egg noodle, red onion, and cilantro, and topped with crunchy egg noodle.
The final item on the menu is Red Curry, a zesty marriage of chicken, red chili paste, Thai spices, and coconut cream.
The Know Your Noodles party will be held until 4:30 p.m., with reservations required and available by telephone at 563-7788 or in person at Racha Noodle Bar, 88 Main St., Damariscotta.
There will also be a fundraising raffle for a $50 gift certificate to Racha Noodle Bar that begins on Thursday, March 21, with entries available at the restaurant, priced at $3 for one entry and $5 for three entries. The drawing will be held at the Know Your Noodles party, with 100 percent of the entry money going to benefit the digitization project. The winner need not be present at the drawing and will be notified by telephone.
Hanjitsuwan notes that the freeze-dried items on grocery store shelves are not to be confused with the kind of noodles and broths on the Racha menu, in which a wide variety of high-quality noodles are used, and some of the broths are simmered for long hours, all to achieve a distinct experience for the guest.
The restaurant also has a full bar, complete with an extensive wine and beer list, as well as soft drinks, juices, and teas, all available at the usual prices during the Know Your Noodles party.
