On Saturday, March 3, Girl Scout Troop 700, in Jefferson, will hold a Girl Scout cookie sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jefferson Fire Station. All varieties of cookies will be available.
Girl Scout cookies in Maine are still $4 a box. The flavors include Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, Thanks-A-Lot, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Lemonades, the ever-popular Thin Mints, and the newest flavor, S’mores.
The annual Girl Scout cookie sale is recognized as the premier business and economic literacy program for girls across the nation and is entering its 101st year. This is an opportunity to help girls become leaders and, throughout the fundraising drive, each girl acquires skills she will use her entire life, skills like goal-setting, money management, and teamwork, while having great fun at the same time.
The girls in Troop 700, who range from Brownies to Cadettes, have already had a busy fall and winter with an overnight trip to the Children’s Museum in Portland, hiking at Bradbury Mountain State Park, and a day trip to Boston for the older girls. They plan to use their proceeds for a two-night camping adventure at Camp Kirkwold, a camp owned by Girl Scouts of Maine in Readfield, and for a community service project.
The girls are thankful for such a supportive community and look forward to seeing returning customers.
