People are invited to participate in some good old-fashioned fun at the Great Salt Bay Barn Dance on Saturday, March 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Great Salt Bay Community School gym. Barn-dancing/contra-dancing is a wonderful social activity for all ages and is a tradition that has been part of Maine culture since colonial times. It’s also a fun way to get some exercise.
All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary, as all dances will be taught. Listen to the music, dance, or join the band. The Oyster Creek Fiddlers and the GSB Fiddlers and Friends will be playing.
This event is a fundraiser for Friends of Music Education at GSB, which benefits GSB students in the band, chorus, and strings programs.
The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for kids, or $15 per family. Refreshments will be available. For more information, contact Kaity Newell at knewell@aos93.org.
