“Growing through Grief,” a workshop led by Tish Brundage, of Kenshin Ranch, will take place over four days in May at Apifera Farm, a nonprofit animal sanctuary in Bremen.
The four-day series, held from 1-3 p.m. on Fridays, May 17, May 24, May 31, and June 7, will use creativity, movement, and mindfulness to connect with each participant’s experiences with loss and grief. Surrounded by nature and the sanctuary animals, the participants will have a supportive and safe environment to learn to navigate the universe of grief.
While grief can come in many forms beyond the loss of life, this workshop is intended for those grieving the loss of a loved one. No experience in yoga or music is needed to be part of this workshop.
“We are often expected to just “know” how to navigate grief and “get over” the loss of our beloveds quickly and cleanly. The truth is, grief is anything but quick and clean. It is messy, unpredictable and will be with us for life,” said Brundage, who has over a decade of providing therapy for individuals.
Brundage is a board-certified music therapist and compassionate bereavement care yoga provider. For more information, go to kenshinranch.com. To register, go to schedulicity.com/scheduling/kry6cde/workshops.
Katherine Dunn is the owner/caretaker of Apifera Farm, which takes in elder/needy animals and shares them with elders at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta and other facilities. Donkeys, ponies, llamas, and goats are part of the farm.
“I have watched animals gravitate to a specific person in a group and stand by them quietly, only to find out that person is going through a loss or challenge,” Dunn said.
