The American Legion is sponsoring a statewide ice fishing tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9 and 10. Weigh-ins will be held at the Wells-Hussey American Legion Post No. 42, at 257 Main St. in Damariscotta, at 6 p.m.
There is a one-entry-per-ticket limit. Tickets are $2 each or six for $10. Adult prizes are for the largest fish of any species (including pike) caught in any inland waters of Maine. First prize is a pallet of Bio Bricks from Damariscotta Hardware, second prize is a bait bucket and skimmer donated from Louis Doe Home Center and six one-topping pizzas at one per month from Mike’s Place, and third prize is a $100 gift card to Hammond Lumber.
The kids division is for perch only. First through third place will receive a jet sled from Ames True Value Hardware & Supply, a $25 gift card, and an ice fishing trap.
There will be a $300 door prize drawn at 6 p.m. on Feb. 10.
Tickets to the tournament are available at Damariscotta Hardware, Hilltop Stop, and The Penalty Box in Damariscotta; Louis Doe Home Center and Mike’s Place in Newcastle; Ames True Value Hardware & Supply in Wiscasset; Steve Wood’s Bait Shop in Edgecomb; ALLPLaY in Waldoboro; the Boothbay Fire Department; and Johnson’s Sporting Goods in Rockland.
