All are welcome as friends and fans of the late John “J.P.” Fisher are expected to gather in New Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 9 to celebrate the life and spirit of the one-time Pemaquid resident at the J.P. Fisher Memorial Concert.
A highly regarded musician with extensive connections in the Lincoln County music community, Fisher was stricken with a fatal heart attack at his Brookline, N.H. home on March 31. Fisher had a history of heart trouble, and a history of heart disease ran in his family. Services for Fisher were held in New Hampshire in April.
The Pemaquid gathering is scheduled to open at the Pemaquid Point Campground, at 2872 Bristol Road in New Harbor, beginning at noon. Area bandleader and host Edward Fossett will provide a PA system, a drum set, and some equipment. All are invited to play and share their favorite stories about Fisher. Musicians are encouraged to bring their own instruments and they may want to bring their own amplification.
The event is BYOB. Some food will be available. Donations will be accepted to cover costs. Any funds raised by the event will go to support the Friends of Baxter State Park, as Baxter was one of Fisher’s most cherished places.
